OLIVIER CHETAIL
Olivier Chetail is an antique dealer and interior decorator with over 20 years of experience catering to an international clientele that values discretion. With a degree in art history from La Sorbonne, he has dedicated his career to discovering rare and unusual objects. His eclectic approach blends neoclassical elegance with contemporary flair, weaving the past with the present in unexpected ways to create rich and narrative interiors.
Drawing inspiration from art, theater, museums, and his lifelong fascination with objects, Olivier tells stories through his designs—stories that allow a Gothic cloister environment to seamlessly transition into a Paul Evans dining room. His penchant for bold combinations of different eras and styles creates visually fascinating dialogues, where each piece contributes to a unique and cohesive narrative.
Through meticulous research, Olivier uncovers the common threads connecting seemingly disparate elements, ensuring that elegance and uniqueness always prevail. His background as an antique dealer, paired with his skills as a decorator, adds depth and character to his designs, reflecting a commitment to French craftsmanship in a way that feels natural and inviting.
For over 20 years, Olivier has built trusted relationships with clients, guiding them on journeys that reveal who they are and what they aspire to be. From alpine chalets to Mediterranean villas, urban apartments to countryside retreats, and Middle Eastern palaces to European castles, his projects respect the tradition of French “art de vivre” while avoiding the “déjà vu.” Olivier loves hunting for treasures and breaking the rules to create interiors that are as distinct as the people who live in them.
For its inaugural edition, held from October 18 to 22, 2024, at the prestigious Hôtel de l’Industrie on Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Germanopratin offered an intimate exploration of art, design, and French culture.
As noted, "Germanopratin stands out for its intimate approach, subtly orchestrating a dialogue between decorative arts, modern art, photography, and contemporary art. Every aspect of the event is meticulously crafted to embody the French art of living, creating an experience that is both authentic and unforgettable for art enthusiasts". (WOW Magazine, 2024).
Curated by Olivier Chetail and Armel Soyer, the centerpiece exhibition, "Grands Styles," unfolded within a Parisian apartment designed as a seamless enfilade of rooms. The showcase featured bold juxtapositions of antique furniture and innovative modern creations, resulting in a refined and immersive celebration of the French art de vivre.
